The challenge

The app's home screen no longer reflected how customers actually used the product. It focused almost exclusively on starting a new search, overlooking key moments such as repeat bookings, abandoned searches, and the post-booking experience. At the same time, users perceived the app primarily as a tool to rent a car, rather than as a platform designed to support the entire rental journey. This gap weakened both product engagement and brand differentiation. The redesign became an opportunity not only to better support different user journeys, but also to establish the mobile foundation for adapting Rentcars' Design System, which had previously been developed for the web.

The solution

We redesigned the home experience around multiple customer journeys instead of a single search flow. The new experience introduced a stronger and more consistent brand presence, surfaced relevant content based on user context, and brought the web Design System to the mobile app, creating a scalable foundation for future product evolution.
